Terms of Service

Version 1.2 Last updated: March 2026 Contact: support@flash-ask.com

1. Parties and Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and the operator of flash-ask ("we", "us", or "the Service"), accessible at flash-ask.com.

Service operator contact: support@flash-ask.com

By installing the flash-ask Chrome extension, creating an account, or completing a purchase, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

Users under the age of 16 may not use the Service without verifiable parental or guardian consent.

2. Description of the Service

flash-ask is a browser productivity tool that allows users to select text or capture a screen region on any webpage and receive an AI-generated response. The Service is designed to assist with understanding, summarizing, and interpreting written content.

flash-ask is a general-purpose text and image processing tool. It does not promote, encourage, or facilitate any specific use case. The Service depends on third-party AI infrastructure (Groq) and may be subject to availability limitations outside our control.

Compatibility: flash-ask requires Google Chrome version 88 or later, an active internet connection, and a Google account.

3. Account Registration and Google Sign-In

Access to the Service requires authentication via Google OAuth. By signing in with Google, you authorize flash-ask to receive your Google account email address, display name, and profile picture for the sole purpose of account management.

Your account is tied to your Google identity. Only one active session is permitted at a time — signing in on a new device automatically invalidates the previous session.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from compromised Google credentials.

4. Subscription and Payment

4.1 Pricing

flash-ask is offered at $4.99 USD per month per user. Prices are displayed in USD and may be subject to applicable taxes depending on your jurisdiction.

4.2 Payment

Payment is processed exclusively through PayPal. flash-ask does not collect, store, or have access to your credit card numbers, bank account details, or billing address. All financial data is handled directly by PayPal under their own terms and privacy policy.

4.3 Access and Activation

Upon confirmed payment, your Google account is automatically activated for the Service for 30 calendar days. No token or code is required — simply sign in with the same Google account used during purchase.

4.4 Subscription Renewal

Subscriptions are not automatically renewed by default. To continue access after the 30-day period, you must complete a new purchase. If you configure a recurring payment through PayPal, renewal terms are governed by PayPal's subscription policies.

4.5 Cancellation

To cancel a recurring PayPal subscription:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account at paypal.com.
  2. Go to Settings → Payments → Manage automatic payments.
  3. Select flash-ask and click Cancel.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. No partial refunds are issued for unused days.

4.6 Refunds

Refunds are generally not provided for digital services once access has been granted. Exceptions may apply in the following cases:

  • Technical failure on our side that prevented access for more than 72 consecutive hours during a paid period.
  • Duplicate charges caused by a payment processing error.
  • Applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction that mandates a right of withdrawal.

If you believe you are entitled to a refund, contact support@flash-ask.com within 14 days of the charge.

Note for EU consumers: If you are located in the European Union, you may have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days from the date of purchase, unless you have explicitly requested immediate access and acknowledged that this right is waived upon service commencement.

5. Usage Limits

5.1 Monthly Query Limit

Each subscription includes up to 2,700 queries per calendar month. The counter resets on the first day of each calendar month.

5.2 When the Limit Is Reached

If you exhaust your monthly quota, further queries will be blocked until the start of the next calendar month.

5.3 Fair Use

Automated use of the Service (bots, scripts, or any non-human interaction) is prohibited. Abuse of the Service may result in account suspension.

6. User Responsibilities and Prohibited Uses

You are solely and exclusively responsible for how you use flash-ask and for all consequences that result from your use. You agree to:

  • Use the Service in compliance with all applicable local, national, and international laws.
  • Verify the accuracy of any AI-generated response before relying on it.
  • Not share your account access with any other person.
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, bypass, or tamper with the Service's security mechanisms.
  • Not use the Service to transmit harmful, abusive, illegal, or infringing content.
  • Not use automated tools, scripts, or bots to interact with the Service.
  • Not use the Service in any dishonest, deceptive, or fraudulent manner, including but not limited to cheating on tests, exams, certifications, or academic assignments where AI assistance is not permitted.

Violation of any of the above may result in immediate account termination without refund.

7. Academic Integrity, Professional Regulations, and Prohibited AI Contexts

7.1 General-purpose tool — no endorsement of specific use cases

flash-ask is a general-purpose text and image processing tool. We make no representation regarding whether use of this Service is permitted in any particular academic, professional, or institutional context. The responsibility rests entirely with the user.

7.2 Your sole responsibility

By using flash-ask, you accept full, complete, and sole responsibility for determining whether use of AI assistance is permitted in any context, including examinations, academic assignments, professional certifications, workplace evaluations, or any setting governed by an honor code or professional ethics standard.

7.3 Zero liability for misuse

flash-ask bears absolutely no responsibility — legal, financial, academic, professional, or otherwise — for any consequences arising from your use of the Service in any context where AI assistance is restricted, prohibited, or considered inappropriate. This includes without limitation academic penalties, revocation of professional licenses, employment consequences, or any reputational or personal harm.

7.4 No monitoring of use context

flash-ask does not monitor or have visibility into the specific context in which you use the Service. Responsibility rests entirely with the user.

8. Intellectual Property and License

8.1 License to Users

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the flash-ask Chrome extension solely for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

8.2 Ownership

All rights, title, and interest in and to flash-ask — including the extension code, website design, branding, and trademarks — remain exclusively with the Service operator. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership to you.

8.3 AI-Generated Content

Responses generated by the AI are provided for informational purposes only. They do not constitute professional, legal, medical, financial, or academic advice. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. You must independently verify any AI-generated response before acting on it.

9. Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your access to the Service, with or without prior notice, if you have shared your account, used automated scripts, attempted to bypass authentication, issued fraudulent chargebacks, or violated any provision of these Terms.

In cases of termination for cause, no refund will be issued. If termination is due to our error, a proportional refund will be provided.

10. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We may at any time modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service or update these Terms. The updated version will be posted at flash-ask.com/terms. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 7 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We expressly disclaim any warranty that the Service is suitable for use in time-sensitive, high-stakes, or professionally regulated contexts.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Our total cumulative liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the subscription in the 30 days immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by applicable international commercial principles. In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to attempt resolution in good faith by contacting support@flash-ask.com before pursuing any formal legal remedy.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

15. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
